GreenRoots bridges the intersection of environmental justice and public health by engaging the most impacted residents in the highly industrial neighborhoods of Chelsea and East Boston, while uplifting their voices and empowering them through innovative campaigns to improve the collective health in its communities. GreenRoots will address health disparities by focusing on food justice, improving indoor and outdoor air quality, and chronic diseases. It will continue to utilize various advocacy tactics on improving the air quality to address health impacts and other health equity policies– including grassroots organizing, data collection, working with policymakers and collaborating with other organizations to move these issues forward.

The Community Builders (TCB) is a leading nonprofit real estate developer that owns and manages more than 13,000 quality apartments. Its housing, commercial, and community program investments help make neighborhoods work for people of all incomes. TCB will provide Village Connections (the organization’s PM+ intervention program) to residents in Mashpee and Worcester; increase staff members' knowledge, comfort, and confidence in discussing mental health; and train the maintenance and property management team on the key elements of Village Connections.  

YWCA Malden

MLCHC is an effective resource and information source for its members, policymakers, state agencies, and other advocates on the preservation of and access to high-quality and affordable care and comprehensive benefits.

University of Massachusetts Amherst In Partnership with the Bay Area Neighborhood Council

This project is a collaboration between UMass Amherst Elaine Marieb College of Nursing (EMCON) and the Bay Area Neighborhood Council (BANC) in Springfield. 

The two organizations will work together to address racial disparities in maternal health by launching health education services and bringing resources to pregnant people and new mothers in the Bay neighborhood in Springfield. The project will build BANC’s capacity to sustain the maternal health program in their community.

La Colaborativa is a trusted partner to Latinx immigrants in Chelsea and surrounding areas with a mission to empower community members to enhance the social and economic health of the community and its people; and to hold institutional decisionmakers accountable to the community. La Colaborativa will build on its distinct, culturally relevant, community-based approach to promote community health and advocate for systems change. La Colaborativa will continue to expand its health advocacy work to improve health equity and expand coverage and access – specifically for immigrants, regardless of documentation status.
