Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation Announces Two Board Appointments, New Chair
The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation today announced the appointment of Sarah Iselin, President and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Anna Maria Siega-Riz, Dean of the School of Public Health and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, to its Board of Directors. Dr. Thomas H. Lee, a primary care physician and cardiologist, clinical researcher and health policy expert who presently serves on the Board, has been appointed Board Chair.


BCBSMA Foundation Announces Nearly $4M in 2024 in Grantmaking
The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation, a nonprofit grantmaking and research organization, today announced it has awarded approximately $1 million in grants to support statewide initiatives for community-driven mental health and health equity. This latest round of funding brings the Foundation’s grantmaking activity to nearly $4 million in 2024, all in support of organizations serving those who are economically, racially, culturally or socially marginalized.


BCBSMA Foundation Report Finds Successes and Challenges in State’s Behavioral Health Reforms
The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation released a report today offering an early examination of the state’s implementation of the Roadmap for Behavioral Health Reform (the Roadmap), a sweeping set of changes aimed at improving access to the outpatient mental health and substance use disorder treatment system for all Massachusetts residents. Researchers found both successes and challenges since the Roadmap’s launch in early 2023, and identified opportunities to strengthen the multiyear strategy to close critical gaps in community-based care.
