National Alliance on Mental Illness

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will increase the organization’s membership and visibility in communities of color across the Commonwealth, by undertaking a systematic and focused effort to recruit more diverse members and expand its constituency. NAMI Mass will engage targeted outreach to organizations, agencies, churches, and schools in Greater Boston and Framingham, and recruit program facilitators from these communities to deliver its program curriculum.

Stanley Street Treatment & Resources, Inc.

Greater Boston Food Bank

The Greater Boston Food Bank will partner with Tufts Medical Center and the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center to evaluate the impact of a monthly mobile produce market on diet-related chronic diseases and health care utilization among registered GLFHC patients. The study aims to determine the effect of the mobile market attendance on such utilization measures as ED visits, hospitalizations and missed doctors’ visits.

Massachusetts Advocates for Children will partner with Justice Resource Institute to implement a holistic, wrap-around service model to help reduce suspensions and expulsions by addressing the behavioral health needs of the children and youth in Boston through training at least 30 JRI social workers and staff, educating parents on the behavioral health and special needs rights of their children (provided in English and Spanish), and providing individualized legal assistance for 20-30 child clients with significant behavioral health challenges.

University of Massachusetts Medical School, Center for Integrated Primary Care

University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Integrated Primary Care will develop an engagement and education curriculum for patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) and their families. The curriculum, which will be available online and through smartphone devices, will aim to provide information about OUD treatment options and promote better primary care.

Brookline Community Mental Health Center

Brookline Community Mental Health Center will develop a small-scale pilot of a functional user community that allows care providers to share resources, pose questions, and sustain dialogue across systems. The Brookline Center will build and coordinate the network by creating the user group, recruiting members, monitoring and administering the group, and collecting and analyzing data.

Talking Information Center

The Talking Information Center (TIC) will develop a radio program to broadcast events focused on health and vocational training for individuals with disabilities. TIC provides free broadcasting of local news, articles, consumer information, and other items of interest to visually-impaired and otherwise disabled individuals across the state.
