La Colaborativa is a trusted partner to Latinx immigrants in Chelsea and surrounding areas with a mission to empower community members to enhance the social and economic health of the community and its people; and to hold institutional decisionmakers accountable to the community. La Colaborativa will build on its distinct, culturally relevant, community-based approach to promote community health and advocate for systems change. La Colaborativa will continue to expand its health advocacy work to improve health equity and expand coverage and access – specifically for immigrants, regardless of documentation status. 

Brookview House is a Black and Latinx women-led community-based agency working for justice, equity, and systemic change for low-income families. Through a two-generation, culturally responsive approach, Brookview provides housing with on-site programs to improve health, educational achievement, and economic stability. Brookview will develop and implement a grassroots community engagement campaign that identifies the intersection of substance use and oral health and the impact on young people – including a social media component. They will also work to increase the health advocacy skills and build grassroots power of the Brookview Youth Advisory Board.   

The Welcome Project builds the collective power of immigrants to participate in and shape community decisions through programming for youth and adults that develops leadership skills, builds civic engagement, and strengthens immigrant voices.  It will work to develop partnerships with other immigrant and health organizations to advance efforts for equitable working conditions for immigrant workers and to ensure their health and safety to improve community health. 

Legendary Legacies provides case management, mentoring and skills development, and re-entry services for young men of color, particularly fathers, previously incarcerated or gang-affiliated individuals, to help them to develop the necessary skills to succeed in life and become productive citizens. Legendary Legacies will enhance its organizational capacity for health care advocacy to give voice to the inequitable outcomes of the current healthcare system it sees every day to create real and lasting change. It will also identify and purchase a donor management platform to build capacity to communicate with a variety of stakeholders as it takes on this enhanced role in health advocacy.

GreenRoots bridges the intersection of environmental justice and public health by engaging the most impacted residents in the highly industrial neighborhoods of Chelsea and East Boston, while uplifting their voices and empowering them through innovative campaigns to improve the collective health in its communities. GreenRoots will address health disparities by focusing on food justice, improving indoor and outdoor air quality, and chronic diseases. It will continue to utilize various advocacy tactics on improving the air quality to address health impacts and other health equity policies– including grassroots organizing, data collection, working with policymakers and collaborating with other organizations to move these issues forward.
