Sharon Long, PhD

Sharon Long, an economist and Senior Fellow at The Urban Institute, has more than 25 years of experience conducting quantitative and qualitative policy research on health and social issues. Her work includes numerous studies of the effects federal and state policy initiatives, including ongoing research based on the Massachusetts Health Reform Survey (MHRS) and new work evaluating the implementation and impacts of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Policy and Evaluation at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Dr. Long was awarded the prestigious Health Services Research Impact Award by Academy Health in 2012 for her work on health reform in Massachusetts. Between 2010 and 2012, Dr. Long was a professor in the Division of Health Policy and Management in the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota, where she remains an adjunct professor.
