Sandro Galea, MD

Professor and Dean, Boston University School of Public Health

Dr. Galea is a physician and an epidemiologist. He is the Robert A. Knox Professor and Dean at the Boston University (BU) School of Public Health. Prior to his appointment at BU, Dr. Galea served as the Gelman Professor and Chair of the Department of Epidemiology at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.In his scholarship, Dr. Galea is centrally interested in the social production of health of urban populations. He has published over 700 academic articles, 13 books, and is a regular contributor to the Boston Globe, Harvard Business Review, NPR, and Fortune Magazine, among others. His most recent book, Healthier: 50 Thoughts on the Foundations of Public Health, was published this summer by Oxford University Press.
